The Stomach The Bittersweet Fruit

The Prophecy, The Prophecy, The Prophecy, The Prophecy, The Prophecy, The Prophecy, The Prophecy, The Prophecy, The Prophecy

The stomach is an organ which processes the food which we eat. And the first food of man was the fruit from the tree of knowledge. And the food that was eaten was bittersweet. For from the fruit came the sweet knowledge of God, but from the fruit came the bitterness of death. For man was instructed that by eating it he would die. And “you shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.” (Genesis 3:3)

The stomach is an organ which processes the food which we eat. And the first food of man was the fruit from the tree of knowledge. “When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.” (Genesis 3:6) And the food that was eaten was bittersweet. For from the fruit came the sweet knowledge of God, but from the fruit came the bitterness of death. “Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” (Genesis 2:9) For man was instructed that by eating it he would die. And “you shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.” (Genesis 3:3) But even with death, the food of knowledge was good. For the food that is eaten leads ultimately to life. And all knowledge is good, for all knowledge comes from God and leads ultimately to life. But the gods removed man from the Garden, before he could eat from the fruit of life. “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever— therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.” (Genesis 3:22-24)
