The Terror of the Tongue

The tongue is a powerful muscle which is responsible for speaking and eating. And “death and life are in the power of the tongue The tongue tends towards evil and deceit, but a wise man keeps it from speaking. For the forefathers held it from boasting. "Teach me,and I will hold my, and those who love it will eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18:2) tongue ; cause me to understand wherein I have erred." (Job 6:24) And the kings would guard it from sinning. "I will guard my ways, lest I sin with my tongue ; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked are before me." (Psalms 39:1) And the wise would guard it from damning their souls, for "whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles." (Proverbs21:23) And the people would keep it from speaking great evils. For "he who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil.' (1 Peter 3:10-12)
