The skeleton is the structure of the body, but the muscle generates force, which gives the body support and strength to do work.  For the spine is supported by muscles which stabilize its structure. And the muscle gives the skeleton strength in order to do work. And in like manner, the Body is supported by Christ, who is the corner stone of the Church, and the Body is strengthened by the Spirit to do His good works.

And the muscles give support to the Church. For the Lord does not forsake His children, but supports us through all of our trials. For "they confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support ." (2 Samuel 22:19) And the Lord gives men their inheritance, to those who value their lot. For "the LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot." (Psalms 16:5) And God supports those who give from their hearts. "For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His." (2 Chronicles 16:9)And His greatest support is for Jerusalem His Temple. "Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, 'A strong support Yet God does not support but condemns those who forsake Him. For "God will not reject a man of integrity, nor will He for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through the LORD of hosts, their God.'"(Zechariah 12:5)
