Chapter 30: The Heart of the SpiritFaith comes from the Spirit. For it is through the Spirit that we have faith and the heart to complete His works. For it is through works that our faith is perfected.
'God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created Him'. (Genesis 1:27) For we were created in the image of God, and just as God is three in one: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, so were we created as three in one: heart, soul, and mind. Our heart is the vessel through which the Spirit works, and when the Spirit works we receive the gift of faith. And as the Lord is faithful to us, so should we be faithful to Him. And His commandment to us is this: 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' (Matthew 22:37 / Deuteronomy 6:4-5) Our hearts are inherently evil, for they are easily deceived, by the ruler of this world, and they devise evil plans, and fall in his ways. For out of the hearts of men 'proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.' (Matthew 15:18-19) And the ways of men are corrupt, for in ignorance they say 'there is no God'. (Psalms 14:1) And their hearts of pride have turned to stone. (Proverbs 16:5) But rather than giving their hearts to the Spirit, they're doomed to repeat the sins of their fathers. (Acts 7:51) For that which was sown by the Spirit, has been snatched by the ruler of this earth. (Matthew 13:19) But all men's hearts shall be judged by the Lord, and their hardness of heart will make it bleed, for our Lord 'will render to each one according to his deeds'. (Romans 2:5-6) |
