Forty the Period of Waiting

Forty is the days of waiting.  For God's people have waited in forty for the end to come.  For Israel waited forty years in the desert to enter the land.  And Moses and Elijah and Christ waited in forty to deliver the message. But  now the days of waiting are soon over, and the judgment of fire shall come.

The rule of this earth has been given to Satan, but he has been released for just a short time. (Revelation 20:3) And His people have yearned for the Son to return. For the wait of His people has been in forty. For they wandered through the desert for forty long years, for doing grave deeds in His sight. (Numbers 32:13) And the Philistines ruled for forty long years, when His people had worshiped false idols. (Judges 13:1) And the king of Egypt was warned by the Lord, “behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster that lies in the midst of his rivers, that has said, ‘My Nile is mine, and I myself have made it.’” (Ezekiel 29:3) Thus for forty long years his kingdom was destroyed, and the land laid in ruin and waste. (Ezekiel 29:11-13) But though they had wandered for forty long years, the Lord gave them food that His people may live. For His people had manna from heaven, when they came to the land of their fathers. (Exodus 16:35) And for forty years God lived in their midst, thus they lacked not one single thing. (Deuteronomy 2:7) And He said to His people,“you shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.” (Deuteronomy 8:2)
